It's not too late to plant Hot Peppers as Chiltepin peppers are a perennial variety which means that the plants can keep producing and with winter protection, they can live up to 35 years. Keep in mind that you need to cover or place the plants under a roof during the winter if you live in zones 9 or lower. If you live in zones 10- 11, you can grow them all year without winter protection.
