The Ground Chaga is finely ground (small granules - the consistency of tea). The finely ground Chaga provides increased surface area exposure which allows the beneficial components to be extracted more readily. The Ground Chaga can be re-used multiple times to continue to extract the beneficial components. Ground Chaga is sold by the pound.
Instructions for Use: For individual servings, fill a saucepan with 2-3 cups of water along with one tablespoon of Chaga. Heat the water to not exceed 176 degrees and simmer for a minimum of 45 minutes while stirring occasionally. Pour the tea into a cup (use a filter to eliminate any grounds) and sweeten to taste with honey, maple syrup or whipped cream. *Helpful Hint - Larger batches of tea can also be cooled and stored in the refrigerator to be either reheated or used as iced tea in the summer.
What is Chaga? Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a medicinal mushroom that grows on the trunks of birch trees. It has been used as a traditional alternative medicine for centuries, most typically as a tea or tincture. Chaga has also been widely researched and has been found to have many potential health benefits including:
1. Reduce inflammation
2. Boost the immune system
3. Fight viruses
4. Normalize cholesterol and blood sugar levels
5. Anti-cancer properties
Many people refer to Chaga as a superfood because of the many beneficial compounds including an extremely high level of anti-oxidants. The beneficial components also include betulinic acid, polysaccharides and beta-D-glucans.
