Dutchman’s Pipe Tincture
Monotropa hypopitys
Ingredients: 190-proof grain alcohol, water, Monotropa hypopitys
1:3 ratio | +/- 50% ABV
This tincture is made from 100% sustainably-harvested Dutchman’s Pipe and a double-dose of love!
Dutchman’s Pipe, also known as Pine Sap or False Beech Drops, is a close cousin to the more commonly-used Ghost Pipe (Monotropa uniflora).
Like its cousin, Dutchman’s Pipe is a powerful nervine. It raises pain tolerance levels and may calm an active, panicky, or overstimulated mind.
Dutchman’s Pipe may be used for acute pain, panic attacks, anxiety, extreme insomnia, or overwhelm on psychic journeys.
Dutchman’s Pipe is a dream enhancer. Use it in the facilitation of vivid, pleasant, or lucid dreams in whatever manner you practice.
HOW TO USE
If Ghost Pipe is understudied in scientific communities, Dutchman’s pipe is doubly so. Because of this, dosages should start small to mitigate the potential risk of toxicity.
Shake well before administering.
Begin with three drops at the onset of resistant pain, panic, or overwhelm in psychic journeys. Increase the dose at half-hour intervals as needed. For dreaming, administer half a milliliter at bedtime. Increase dose as needed the following night.

HOW ITS MADE
By providing responsibly-crafted tinctures, I hope to bring the benefits of this friend without negatively affecting its population.
Dutchman’s Pipe is short-lived and rare. It emerges in ghostly, translucent bursts of yellow and red from dark forest understories, appearing for just a week or two before dying off in the summer heat.
To make this medicine, I visit known patches on my property appearing in late May or early June. I choose patches with over a dozen flowers and harvest no more than three from a single patch, taking the aerial part of the plant and 1-2 roots.
As soon as they are cut, I place the pipes in 190-proof grain alcohol for transport back to the homestead. I add water at 30-40%, leave the mixture to tincture for six weeks, then press and bottle it.
