Chaga is a fungus which grows on birch trees in the Northern Hemisphere. It has been used for its health benefits for thousands of years in both China and Russia. Chaga has an earthy aroma and taste, and can be used in tea or coffee, or taken as an extracted tincture. Some of the benefits include specific boosting of the immune system, fights certain types of cancer, helps with digestion, lowers blood sugar, reduces inflammation (which helps with arthritis pain), and helps with cognitive and memory functions. It is no surprise that Chaga is growing in popularity in the United States because of its many benefits.

We have been foraging the Blue Ridge Mountains for over 30 years, happy to share the wonders of nature with family and friends. A close friend suggested there may be countless others, worldwide, who would also love to partake of the diverse wild goods this area has to offer. Grandfather Medicinals is the platform I developed to share this unique goodness. I am continually awed by the volume and quality of the people I have met in this undertaking. My time is best spent in the woods, so I keep processing, labeling, packaging, etc. to a minimum. I am happy to talk fungus and plants whether any products are purchased or not.
